Jampact // episodes
Just-Another-Musical-Phonographic-Archaeological-Culture-Transmission. Without wishing to infer a jaded sense of gender-normativity, in the absence of any intrinsic meaning to their lives, blokes of a certain vintage tend to fill the void by surrounding themselves with objects with which to kindle the soul. Collecting things, they call it. Sometimes these resemble liquorice pizzas and we call them records, or just elpees. They provide an endless source of fascination, envy, regret and consolation. From time immemorial such blokes have sought to compile arcane taxonomies of the structures of sentience itself. This show, therefore, seeks to project some aspects of this cultural cosmovision in an ongoing dialogue with the self. Can anybody hear me? Is anyone listening? Beans On Toast // episodes
Beans On Toast Radio Show has no master-plan, just a desire to provide listeners with the opportunity to enjoy a mixture of genres & styles that many radio shows are either unable or unwilling to embrace. It's not rocket science but it keeps me relatively sane & encourages me to continue to dig for soul, funk, hip hop, beats & oddities to keep things nice & lively...
After experimenting with a variety of ways to execute each show it seems the 50/50 split of careful planning and careless spontaneity works best, giving more of a live appeal much in the way a DJ set would (but without the technical wizardry of decent scratching & seamless mixing).

Midnight Campfire // episodes
Taking a broad definition the word ‘folk’, CJ Thorpe-Tracey spins trad, psych, songwriters, americana, folktronica, punk-folk, global roots and more. With in-depth knowledge of the folk world and occasional live guests, plus each week we add a song to the 'Campfire Songbook', collecting together the most essential classics to sing around the flames after dark. Throw your cajon on the fire and grab a blanket for a mostly mellow, occasionally wild late night adventure.

The LC Pumpkin Podcast // episodes
Prompted both by a desire to hear new music and to do something more interesting with his mailing list than just advertise his gigs and merch, Brighton low-fidelity one-man band LC Pumpkin (real name Keith) decided to ask everyone on the list for tune recommendations to make a podcast out of. Originally meant as a one-off, the response was positive enough for him to carry on and do more.
So far what’s been played has included psych noise punk, sensitive balladry, long winded jazz meanderings, experimental pub rock from Sheffield, and a couple of numbers from some charity shop records. If you’re wanting to listen to some tunes of a particular genre or which maybe have some kind of common stylistic or thematic thread linking them together, this might not be your cup of tea.

Brighton Modular Sessions // episodes
Brighton Modular Sessions explores live electronic music made using modular synthesisers. We reject the classic artist performance paradigm, embracing a new format that encourages improvisation, collaboration and exploration.
The format of a Brighton Modular Session is unique and only possible thanks to the inherent design of a modular synthesiser:
• Four artists play in a two-hour session.
• Set up around a large table, in the middle of the venue, not on a distant, elevated, obfuscated stage.
• Artists take it in turns to perform a 10 minute patch, while the others prepare their next patch.
• The next artist responds with their patch, and so it continues in a round-robin style.
There are no presets in modular synthesis, artists must create each patch from scratch. They can interact, integrate and borrow from the other artists’ modular synthesisers – thanks to the inherent design implementation of control voltage.
This encourages a live response to the crowd, the venue, etc. Creating a unique ‘one time’ piece of music. The music made is wide and varied. Experimental, ambient, noise, drone, house, techno. Anything that can be imagined and patched.
Our events have always been free, inclusive and accessible. We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to see what is going on up close, they can walk around the performance table, talk to artists and and hear new processes. We want everyone to know about modular synthesis. If you can’t make it down to the next session, check our Facebook page for a live video stream so you can see what’s going on.
We hold a major event once a year, in partnership with and in conjunction with the Brighton Modular Meet (biggest modular synthesiser event in the UK). We are supported by the local business THONK! and the internationally renowned ALM Busy Circuits.

Akiha Den Den // episodes
A unique audio drama series created by writer/director Neil Cargill and musician/sound designer Simon James featuring an original electronic music score and full cast including Ian McDiarmid, famed for his role as Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars saga, as Cuttings - the radio ham who picks up a mysterious voice. The voice belongs to a girl (Joy McAvoy, from Ken Loach's The Angels' Share and Filth) trapped in an abandoned amusement park
called Akiha Den Den. Singer Wendy Rae Fowler (featured vocalist with bands such as Queens Of The Stone Age) lends her distinctive Alabama tones to the multi-layered soundscape as it becomes clear there's a whole community there, whose words and music become woven into a mesmerising plea for help. Everything becomes highly charged when one of the trapped inhabitants finds a way into our world – where his impact on us could be as devastating and far-reaching as an unknown, unseen virus.

Burnt Toast // episodes
Burnt Toast Radio Show has no master-plan, just a desire to provide listeners with the opportunity to enjoy a mixture of genres & styles that many radio shows are either unable or unwilling to embrace.

Strictly Business // episodes
Over the last year, as well as representing the US and UK, Strictly Business has played tunes from New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Germany and far beyond (see Deltron 3030) because the music we play is not bound by territory. Expect to hear brand new exclusives dropped alongside obscure older classics because likewise, release dates have little influence over what we play. If we think it’s good, it gets played and we’ll steer very clear of the likes of Souljah Boy, Drake, Eminem etc because; a) it’s not hip hop and b) we believe it to be drivel.

The Tone Generation // episodes
Ian Helliwell's ongoing radio series exploring electronic music; a personal selection drawn from his records and CDs, looking at different themes and compositions in the era of analogue tape and early synthesizer technology. The first 10 programmes offer a panorama of music from different countries around the world; subsequent editions focus on a particular electronic music subject.
Within the limitations of his collection, the programmes aim to act as an informative and enlightening overview of experimental electronic music as it developed in many different areas, and will be of special relevance to enthusiasts and students interested in the history of analogue electronics, from the pioneering early days up to the 1970s.

The portfolio of sessions and live recordings is already the stuff of legends, being made up of numerous unique and exclusive slabs of sonic joy running at twenty-, thirty-, sometimes even forty-something minutes apiece. The show has been humbled by the contributions of such prestigious singers and players as Jeffrey Lewis, The Handsome Family, Great Lake Swimmers, Kimya Dawson, Charlie Parr, King Creosote, Josh T. Pearson, James Yorkston, Phosphorescent, Stanley Brinks, Okkervil River, Mumford and Sons.

Slipped Disco // episodes
Named after the long running London club night, Slipped Disco & Liquorish sees Ben Osborne, founder of Noise of Art, DJ, writer, musician and onetime NME Radio and XFM presenter, pick tracks from diverse sources of dancefloor music. "Obscenely fun electronic oddness. This pleases us very much indeed, primarily because of the anything-goes music policy that sees anything from classic techno, punk-funk, galactic house, deep down and dirty disco and other dancefloor dynamite do the rounds.” (Time Out January 2013)

Solid Steel // episodes
Started back in 1988 as a weekly show on the then pirate radio station Kiss FM, "Solid Steel" is the longest running mix show in the world. At a time when most DJs were playing one genre of music, Coldcut's remit was more far-ranging, leading to the show's tagline: 'The Broadest Beats'. For over 25 years, the show has embraced new musical styles as they evolve, whilst celebrating the past. New members DJ Food and DK joined the ranks in the '90s and 1999 saw the show leave Kiss and expand globally with international syndications and online streaming.
